CRANIAL PROSTHESIS

WHAT IS A CRANIAL PROSTHESIS

A Cranial Prosthesis is the medical term for a custom made wig or hair peice/topper for men, women, & children that are losing their hair due to various medical conditions.

HOW IT WORKS

1. CONTACT: Contact your insurance provider. You want to ask them if your insurance covers a "CRANIAL PROSTHESIS." If so, ask how much do they cover? What types; human hair or synthetic?

2.PERSCRIPTION:Once you've established that your insurance covers your "CRANIAL PROSTHESIS," You'll need to contact a dermatologist. This dermatologist will examine your hairloss and if determined your hairloss is indeed due to a medical condition, they can the write you a perscription.

3.CONSUTATION:Now that you've gotten your perscription, we will set up your consultation which is no cost to you. We will further discuss the details of your CRANIAL PROSTHESIS. Details like; the fit, style, hair type and more.

4.ORDER:Once all details are discussed, we will then bill your insurance for your CRANIAL PROSTHESIS. Depending on if your insurance covers 100%, partially, or has a reimbursement plan, your perscription will be fulfilled.

5.IN SUMMARY: After your perscription is fulfilled, your CRANIAL PROSTHESIS will be tailor-made to your needs as discussed during the consultation. Like medicine, a CRANIAL PROSTHESIS can be refilled. This means you may be able to receive a CRANIAL PROSTHESIS(Medical Wig) every 2- 4 months. This will depend on what your insurance will cover.

DO I QUALIFY?

To confirm if your insurance will cover the cost of your Cranial Prothesis, you'll simply need to call and ask. Be sure to mention "CRANIAL PROSTHESIS" and NOT WIG. A wig is considered to be for cosmetic usage only, and will result in your claim being denied. A Cranial Prosthesis is medical grade equipment. It is pertinent that you use the correct terminology.

Conditions that may cause hairloss include but certainly are not limited to;

-Chemorherapy & Radiology

-Alopecia

-Gastro Bypass Surgery

-Lupus

-Burn Survivors

-Trichotillomania

-Thyroid Conditions

The key to this is making sure you are able to confirm that your hair loss is due to a medical condition. You'll do this by obtaining a perscription for you Cranial Prosthesis from your Doctor, Oncologist, or Dermatologist.  The CPT Code needed is A9282 or S8095 depending on your specific insurance company's requirements. This code needs to be added to your perscription. This is a breakdown of the process that we will be doing with you every step of the way. Hairloss affects individuals around the world and not many people talk about it. We are Here for you. This is your story..your journey..your life. Thank you for considering us.
